Onyx/Lexi has adjusted wonderfully to her forever home, and just loves her new sister Bella, and the feeling is mutual! Their extended playtime together is such a joy to watch, and further reinforces our decision to add to our ‘family’! She is now just about 17 weeks old, will have her final immunizations (3rd set) on March 29th, and will be making her first trip of many to the Connecticut shoreline shortly after that to enjoy some time romping on the sandbars with her sister & other dog-cousins.

She is just about 10 pounds now, & the vet feels she will surpass Westie Bella, who weighs in at about 12. You can see we also have installed the fence I promised I would, with a doggie-door to the house as well, so they both have pretty much free-rein of the kingdom (as long as there is someone home to keep an eye on them).

So thank you so much once again. I still have trouble explaining to people why I chose to drive close to 16 hours to pick up THIS dog, but it isn’t my place to question why things happen, but when I saw Onyx’s photo, I just KNEW she was the one!

Keep up all the wonderful work you do, and I promise to send along these little updates on occasion as well.

Hello! My name is Melissa and I adopted Sebastian late this past summer. I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how he is doing. My sons renamed him Rocky. He is such a wonderful addition to our family! We couldn’t have found a better dog! He is so mellow and laid back for the most part, but really gets excited when playing and romping with the boys! Our other two dogs love him as well. They play together very well and there really wasn’t much of an adjustment period. He just flowed right in with us like he had always been a part of this family. We now could not imagine not having him. Thank you so much for the work you do helping these animals find homes, and for helping homes find these animals! We truly love Rocky! I am sending this picture so you can see how big he has gotten. Thanks again for bringing us together

Sebastian!

Just wanted to drop you a quick note about Lexi.

The first night she was nervous and hardly ate more than a few mouthfuls, but yesterday she ate a full 6 cups (3 in am, 3 in pm). She was still crying a bit, but I was able to distract her. She’s extremely sweet and just seems to want to please. Of course, this is “the honeymoon period”. I haven’t had a bit of trouble with her. She’s also learned that she can’t pull on the leash without me admonishing her. It doesn’t even take a strong voice. She surprised the heck outta me when she tried to join me on the bed the first night though! She has a really comfy huge bed next to mine and another in the living room for when we are in there. I made sure that Saturday was very quiet and low stress for her.

Today she’s discovered that I give excellent belly rubs and brushings, and she even got a bit playful. YAY!! I found that I need to clean my eyeglasses a lot because she likes giving kisses. I’ll work on her simple training very lightly today and we’ll go for a short walk in the woods. She is allowed on the window seats but not on the couch. I attached a pic.

Mary, I just couldn’t be happier with her. It makes me tear up a bit to think of the confusion that she’s been through.

I can’t thank you enough for bringing the three of us together and I’ll keep you updated. We’re in love <3
