What is Pals for Paws, Inc.?
Pals for Paws is a non-profit organization committed to solving the dog and cat overpopulation crisis in Kokomo, Indiana and the surrounding areas. We are accomplishing this through education and grant money to assist with a low-cost spay/neuter program, “The Big Fix”. Pals for Paws works today to prevent tomorrow’s unwanted litters from being born. Each year over thousands of dogs/cats/puppies/kittens are euthanized by the Humane Society. Most of these animals were healthy and adoptable. There are simply not enough homes for them. Our goal is to reduce the number of surplus animals by preventing unnecessary births. For every human born today, 45 puppies and kittens are born. Only 1 out of 10 dogs and 1 out of 12 kittens find a forever home.
What have we accomplished?
In addition to our spay/neuter efforts we are also very involved in the Kokomo Dog Parks. We have raised several thousand dollars to help get the Dog Parks started and we continue to raise funds to better our Dog Parks. As of 2002, we are making a difference for pets in Howard County and beyond. We have rescued over 9000 homeless pets and re-homed them and/or transported them to a safe place.
What are we working on?
We have a new project called Support our Paws and we are raising money to help supply US Military Working Dogs with Doggles, booties, and cooling Vests.
